Famous Boxee Box Remote Now Available to Non-Boxee Box Users
There’s a cool story here, however. The Boxee Box remote has gathered enough fans that it’s now in demand from the regular Boxee crowd that uses their PCs, Macs and other devices to stream media, watch movies, view family slide shows and so forth. And now you don’t have to buy it with a Boxee Box.
So now everyone, including the do-it-yourself crowd that puts together Acer Revo, Mac mini, and Dell Zino HD computers and loads Boxee onto those platforms, can enjoy a full-QWERTY remote when using Boxee. Heck, even those of you who have laptops running Boxee and HDMI connections to your HD-TVs can take advantage of it.
You can buy the Boxee Box remote at Amazon, TigerDirect, NewEgg, and Buy.com. The remote comes with a small USB dongle that can be attached to any computer with a USB port. It uses radio signals to change channels, surf around and select content, so you don’t have to point the thing directly at the TV. Actually, you can be in the next room and use it, which is cool for advancing songs without going into the TV room. We’ve come a long way.
You can also use an iPhone or iPod Touch as a remote for your Boxee machines (Boxee Box or otherwise). We wrote about that here.
