D-Link has started off the CES 2014 week with a bang, garnering numerous hits from top-tier tech/gadget editors and influencers. Following are the highlights from today’s coverage. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the week.
- Gizmodo: “Finding free internet at the end of an ethernet cable is like winning a dollar in the lottery. You know you should be happy, but it’s more of an inconvenience than anything. However, with D-Link’s new AC750 compact wireless router, you can turn that tethered internet lemon into delicious wireless lemonade, and it even lets you share files on a USB drive with any computer in range.”
- PCMag: “D-Link announced a slew of new wireless networking consumer products at CES, including range extenders, a portable router, a network video device, and perhaps the cutest Wi-Fi baby camera you ever did see.”
- Slashgear: “D-Link has unveiled some new hardware at CES 2014 with the addition of some new range extenders for WiFi networks that support 802.11AC technology. These new products include the Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Range Extender DAP-1650 and the Wireless AC750 Dual Band Range Extender DAP-1520. Both products aim to extend existing wireless networks for better connectivity through a home or office.”
- Twice: “D-Link will add two new devices this week to its home networking portfolio, the Network Video Recorder and a portable router and charger. The mydlink Network Video Recorder DNR-312L is an external single-bay hard drive enclosure that can hold up to a 4TB HDD. The Wi-Fi AC750 Portable Charger and Router is targeted at the business traveler who needs to create a local Wi-Fi hotspot while on the road.”
- Ubergizmo: “One of the unique things about the The D-Link Network Video Recorder is that it can connect directly to a monitor via HDMI in case the user wants to visually monitor what’s going on. Since it doesn’t need a computer, this reduces the cost, but also the setup complexity because there is no computer software to install.”
- AnandTech: “In the name of connectivity, local networks, data sharing and charging, D-Link are showcasing their DIR-510L WiFi AC750 Portable Router and Charger at CES this week.”
- Engadget: “With the exception, perhaps, of the traditional trade show flu, nothing’s thicker in the air CES than overlapping WiFi signals. Phones, PCs, SmartTVs, game consoles, tablets and routers are all desperately reaching out to something to connect to, and D-Link is happy to oblige.”
- SmallNetBuilder: “…some interesting new wireless and network video products among D-Link’s CES 2014 introductions. D-Link’s collection of announcements includes a new network video recorder, portable AC router, two simultaneous dual-band AC range extenders and a wireless baby cam.”
- Tom’s Guide: “D-Link has two new security devices on the roster for 2014: one for new parents, and one for mid-sized businesses.”
- Ubergizmo: “With the explosion of smart devices connecting over WiFi, having travel routers have gone from being a superfluous element to being money-saving objects. Since many hotels charge “per device”, I have seen quite a few people get into situations where they got charged separately for the laptop, smartphone and tablet in the same room. The D-Link WiFi AC750 has been created exactly to avoid these types of situations by letting you share an internet connection (3G, WiFi or Ethernet) with all your devices.”
